Our friend and colleague, Mike Bostic, who served on the OARC Board of Directors for 25 years, passed away on Tuesday. We will miss you, Mike, a faithful public servant to the end. Thank you for all you did for Oklahoma!
Larry Michael Bostic, 65, of Guymon; passed away Tuesday evening April 28th, 2015 at the Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
The son of Jay and Stella (Teel) Bostic Jr. he was born October 10, 1949 in Palestine, Texas. The family moved to Guymon from Bossier City, Louisiana in the early 1960’s.
Mike graduated from Guymon High School with the Class of 1967. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 until 1975. He attended Louisiana State University in Shreveport, graduating with a business degree in 1979.
Mike was a member of the Baptist Church. He became a member of the Guymon Elk’s Lodge in 2000, and has served as Exalted Ruler since 2005.
Mr. Bostic was Executive Director of Oklahoma Economic Development Authority. He was a member and served as president for 25 years on the OARC Board, member and board president for several years of the Oklahoma Water Resources Board, Oklahoma Homeland Security Council-Region 1 Agent, Panhandle Counseling & Health Center Board Member, and Oklahoma Association of Regional Councils Board Chairman.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jay Bostic Jr. and one brother, Cliff Bostic.
Survivors include his mother, Stella Bostic of Guymon; one son, Jon Logan and wife, Shawna of Woodward, Oklahoma; one daughter, Mara Heflin and husband, Zach of Perryton, Texas. Survivors also include four grandchildren, Emilie and Thomas Heflin and Anna and Michael Logan, and one sister, Linda Heflin and husband, Phil of Doyline, Louisiana.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, May 4, at the Grace Southern Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Freeman officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
The family will greet friends Sunday between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. at the Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Memorials in memory of Mike may be given to the Guymon Elk’s Lodge. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
